Gave verbal commitment Tuesday, switching from Auburn. Finished senior season with 97 tackles, 23 tackles-for-loss, two sacks and an interception.
Patrick Crump
SIGNED! OL, 6-3, 280, Hoover HS
Gave his verbal commitment to a grayshirt offer in September. Could end up joining the team this fall depending on the numbers, but it’s doubtful. Will likely play guard.
Luther Davis
SIGNED! DE, West Monroe, La., HS
Was committed to LSU, but switched after Saban was hired. As a senior made 39 tackles and three sacks. Also had offers from Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida State and Louisville.
Jeremy Elder
SIGNED! DT, 6-3, 276, North Clayton HS, College Park, Ga.
Was one of the last players to receive an offer and gave his commitment on the spot. Also had an offer from Georgia, Arkansas and Memphis. Expected to be a strongside defensive end.
Nick Fanuzzi
SIGNED! QB, 6-3, 205, Churchill HS, San Antonio, Texas
A dual-threat quarterback who was recruited by Major Applewhite. Was originally a Miami commitment, but switched when the Hurricanes landed former Alabama recruit Robert Marve.
Tarence Farmer
SIGNED! DB, 6-0, 185, St. Pius X HS, Houston, Texas
Was thought to be heading to Nebraska, but changed his mind last week. As a senior had 44 receptions for 1,009 yards and 13 touchdowns, and on defense three interceptions with 41 tackles. Will likely play safety.
Nick Gentry
SIGNED! DT, 6-2½, 272, Prattville HS
One of the first verbal commitments, Gentry received an offer last spring and accepted late summer. Picked Alabama over Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson, Florida State and Louisville.
Brandon Gibson
SIGNED! WR, 6-2, 190, UMS-Wright
Gibson was impressive with 43 catches for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns. Gibson was named the Most Valuable Receiver for the Bulldogs and made the All-State team as an Athlete.
Demetrice Goode
SIGNED! RB, 5-11, 205, Hargrave Military Academy, Chatham, Va.
The all-purpose running back was originally a Kentucky commitment. In high school, at LaGrange, Ga., Goode had 1,630 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior at Troup County High School.
Jeramie Griffin
SIGNED! FB, 6-1, 220, South Panola HS, Batesville, Miss.
Named first-team All-State as a senior by the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger, Griffin rushed for 1,288 yards and 19 touchdowns. Griffin never lost a game in high school and his South Panola Tigers own the state record for consecutive wins.
Darius Hanks
SIGNED! WR, 6-1, 164, Norcross, Ga., HS
Could play either defensive back, but will likely start out as a wide receiver. As a senior, had 55 receptions for 857 yards and eight touchdowns. Terrific athlete who could be a real sleeper addition.
Jennings Hester
SIGNED! LB, 6-3, 215, Marist School, Atlanta, Ga.
Hester’s addition is a clear indication that Saban wants to get bigger at inside linebacker. His senior numbers weren’t available, but he reportedly had 105 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and one sack his junior season.
Kareem Jackson
SIGNED! RB, 6-0, 190, Fork Union, Va., Military Academy
During his high school career at Westside-Macon in Georgia, Jackson accumulated 3,447 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns, along with nine interceptions. He originally committed to Vanderbilt and had five interceptions last season for Fork Union.
Chris Lett
SIGNED! S, 6-1½, 210, Pensacola, Fla., HS
Lett was considered an early addition early on and didn’t waiver on his verbal commitment. Last season, he had 47 tackles and three interceptions. Could play cornerback.
Marquis Maze
SIGNED! WR, 5-9.5, 163, 4.40
Maze rushed for over 1,000 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2005. He recorded over 450 yards receiving and three touchdowns. He has speed to burn, and he lines up on special teams for the Wildcats recording close to 300 yards on kick-off returns.
Rolando McClain
SIGNED! LB, 6-4, 230, Decatur HS
The inside linebacker committed last summer. As a senior was credited with 125 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss and six sacks. Had offers from most of the Southern powers including Auburn and Miami.
Alfred McCullough
SIGNED! DT, 6-3, 297, Athens HS
A summer commitment who chose Alabama over a number of schools including Clemson, Ole Miss and South Carolina. Helped lead Athens to the 5A state title. Had 61 tackles as a senior, 12 for a loss.
Elliott McGaskin
S, 6-1, 190, B.C. Rain HS
McGaskin gave his verbal commitment in October. Although his senior numbers aren’t available, he had approximately 1,110 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 97 tackles on defense, on junior. Chose Alabama over South Carolina, Illinois and Ole Miss, among others.
Kerry Murphy
SIGNED! DT, 6-5, 315, Hoover HS
Was Saban’s first verbal commitment and solidified his intentions Tuesday after visiting Miami. Had 65 tackles as a senior, after tallying 77 tackles, 13 for a loss and eight sacks as a junior. Murphy is not academically eligible yet, but could possibly contribute quickly.
Jamar Taylor
SIGNED! RB, 5-10, 205, Lakeland, Fla., HS
Taylor committed last summer and is already enrolled. His senior numbers were not available, but as a junior he had 1,217 rushing yards on 197 carries, for a 6.2 average per carry, and 27 touchdowns.
Chris Underwood
SIGNED! TE, 6-4, 215, Vestavia Hills HS, Birmingham
Underwood is such a darkhorse that most recruiting services didn’t have him rated when he committed last week. Clemson, Georgia Tech Memphis were also said to be interested.
William Vlachos
SIGNED! C, 6-2 300, Mountain Brook HS
Vlachos accepted an early grayshirt offer despite also receiving offers from Georgia Tech, LSU and West Virginia. Florida State made a late charge too, but he declined. Could play either guard or center.
Alex Watkins
SIGNED! DE, 6-4½, 225, Haywood HS, Brownsville, Tennessee
Watkins surprised some people by accepting an early offer to leave the state of Tennessee, but he held firm on his commitment. He had 116 tackles, 19 for a loss and nine sacks as a senior. Watkins had 16 sacks as a junior. Will likely play weakside end.
Chavis Williams
SIGNED! DE, 6-5, 220, Dora HS
Williams played defensive end in high school, but will make the switch to strongside linebacker. Last season he reportedly had more than 100 tackles and 13 sacks. Was thought to be heading to Arkansas, but recruited to Alabama by Kevin Steele.
