TUSCALOOSA | Alabama granted freshman running back Jamar Taylor his release from scholarship Friday, freeing him to transfer to another school.

Taylor, who has visited South Florida, enrolled at Alabama in January and participated in spring practices with the Crimson Tide.

The Lakeland, Fla., native gained 44 yards on 10 carries in the Tide’s spring game.

He was among the hopefuls for replacing tailback Kenneth Darby, led by Jimmy Johns and Glen Coffee.
