Four UA golfers make cut at Western Amateur

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. | Four of the five University of Alabama golfers competing at the 105th Western Amateur are among the 58 who made the 36-hole cut Thursday.

Mark Harrell, Michael Thompson, Gator Todd and Matthew Swan will all play again today at Point O’Woods Golf and Country Club. Today’s 36 holes will determine the 16 qualifiers for match play.

Rickie Fowler, the 2005 Western Junior champion who last month won the Players Amateur, is the tournament leader, shooting 7-under par 133.

Harrell is in a tie at 11th at 138. Thompson has a 139. Todd and Swan both stand at 143.

Also competing in the tournament but not advancing was Thomas Hugghins. He shot a 149. The cut was at 144.
