Gottfried has surgery to repair hernia

TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama head basketball coach Mark Gottfried underwent surgery late Sunday night to repair a small hernia at DCH Regional Medical Center.

The surgery was performed by Dr. George Nunn. Gottfried was not expected to have to remain in the hospital overnight and planned to return to work today.

Alabama (4-2) will play No. 5 Georgetown on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Pizza Hut SEC/Big East Invitational at the BJCC in Birmingham. Gottfried is expected to be on the sideline.
