UA women host Jacksonville State today

TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama women’s basketball team (5-7) continues its home stand today against Jacksonville State (5-6). Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
The Crimson Tide is coming off a 63-60 overtime victory over Hampton University, while the Gamecocks fell to Southeast Missouri State, 83-71. Today’s game marks the sixth meeting between the two programs.
Alabama has won three of its last four games and four of the last six, including three straight at home.
Newcomer Tierney Jenkins has paced the Tide all season. In five of 12 games, she has led the team in scoring. She is second among SEC freshmen in scoring with an average of 12.8 per game. She has the team high on the season with 29 points in the win against Hampton. She is second on the squad in rebounding with 7.8 per game.
Jolie Efezokae and Eren McMichael lead JSU, both averaging 12.5 points per game. Aa a team, the Gamecocks average 68.6 points and shoot 41 percent.
Alabama will continue its six-game home stand on Jan. 2, hosting East Tennessee State at 6 p.m. The Tide will host the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on Jan. 5 at 2 p.m.
