79° M/CLOUDY, Tide men's basketball stranded in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. | As if losing its third consecutive game to start the SEC season, the University of Alabama men's basketball team found itself stranded in Georgia on Wednesday night.
The Tide, which lost to Georgia 61-54 at Stegeman Coliseum to fall to 11-7 overall and 0-3 in the SEC, was not able to get charter air service out of Athens-Ben Epps Airport due to icy conditions after the game.
The team and traveling support staff hunkered in a hotel Wednesday night, but were still unable to obtain a charter out of Ben-Epps Airport -- which does not have de-icing services.
The Tide is likely to depart via bus for Tuscaloosa around 9 a.m.
Alabama is off to its worst SEC start since 1999, Gottfried's first season. UA went 0-4 that year.
Alabama plays at home against Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon.
