GREENVILLE, S.C. | The University of Alabama women’s tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-0 win Saturday over UNC-Charlotte in its first road match of the season. The 49ers fall to 0-2 on the season.

“We are still working through some kinks but, overall, I think we gained valuable match experience today,” Alabama coach Jenny Mainz said.

“Alice [Tunaru] did a nice job at No. 2 singles today by staying in the match and winning in the third set. She played through streaks and stayed poised. She showed real maturity today.”

Alabama returns to action today at noon against the Furman Paladins. Furman is 2-2 after defeating UNC-Charlotte on Friday.

“The Paladins have a good team and we need to be ready to play the first ball,” said Mainz.

“We have another tough road match that will help us get ready for SEC play.”
