SEATTLE, Wash. | The Alabama men’s track and field team could not ask for a better performance with the SEC Championships looming just two weeks away. The Tide won two events and earned six provisional marks at the Husky Classic this weekend in the Dempsey Indoor Facility.

Senior Michael Cooley put himself in position to make some noise at the SEC Championships and beyond by clocking the fifth best 400 meter time in the history of Alabama. Cooley won the event with a personal best 46.95.

In the 5000 meters junior college All-American Tyson David ran one of the top times in the nation by crossing the line with a time of 13:55.19. Augustus Maiyo followed in fifth with a provisional time of 13:58.43. Andrew Kirwa also notched a provisional mark with a time of 14:02.56, good enough for ninth place.

The distance squad continued its brilliance with Emmanuel Bor hitting a provisional mark in the mile. Bor finished eighth with a time of 4:01.63.

Tim Grier has kept his stellar campaign consistent thus far in the long jump by recording another provisional mark. Grier leaped 24-08.25 to place fourth overall. Grier has recorded a provisional mark in the long jump in all but one meet.

Grier also helped close out the meet on the 4x400 relay team. The quartet finished third overall with a 3:11.50.
