TUSCALOOSA | After sparking the No. 2 University of Alabama softball team’s offensive attack and leading the Tide to an unblemished 10-0 mark after two weeks of the 2008 season, junior outfielder Brittany Rogers has been named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for her performances in six games last week.

Last week in six games, all Tide victories, Rogers helped the UA offense outscore its opposition, 59-9. The Dacula, Ga., native had 21 hits in 30 at-bats (.700 avg.), scored 17 runs and drove in six. Rogers was a perfect 12-of-12 in stolen bases and added three extra-base hits for her team.

Rogers was named Hampton Inn Crimson Classic MVP after hitting .696 over four games.

Alabama enters its first slate of games away from its home field on Friday when it travels to Miami to compete in the Florida International Fun in the Sun tournament.
