Rocket 8s Marlaire in SEC Legends class

TUSCALOOSA | Leon Marlaire, a member of the University of Alabama’s famed “Rocket 8” basketball team from the 1950s, is among 12 former players selected for the 2008 Chick-fil-A Southeastern Conference Basketball Legends class.
The 12, one from each SEC school, will be honored at the March 13-16 SEC men’s basketball tournament in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Marlaire will be introduced at halftime of Alabama’s first game in the tournament.
The 2008 class also includes Corliss Williamson, Arkansas; Wesley Person, Auburn; Dan Cross, Florida; Hugh Durham, Georgia; Kyle Macy, Kentucky; Frank Brian, LSU; Joe Harvell, Ole Miss; Wiley Peck, Mississippi State; Ronnie Collins, South Carolina; Bernard King, Tennessee; and Barry Goheen, Vanderbilt.
This marks the 10th year of the SEC Basketball Legends program. Alabama’s SEC Legends include Reggie King 1999, Wendell Hudson 2000, T.R. Dunn 2001, Leon Douglas 2002, Buck Johnson 2003, Derrick McKey 2004, Gary Waites 2005, Jim Farmer 2006 and Mike Nordholz, 2007.
