UA women's tennis loses to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | The University of Alabama women’s tennis team fell in a 7-0 decision to No. 26 Arkansas today at the Dills Indoor Facility on the University of Arkansas campus. With the loss, Alabama slips to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Crimson Tide fell at all three doubles positions and trailed 1-0 to start singles. Alabama’s Andrea Brenes and Paulina Bigos were defeated at No. 1 by the 23rd ranked tandem of Aurelija Miseviciute and Ela Kaluder 8-2, before the Tide’s Tiffany Welcher and Meritt Emery fell to Audrey Bordeleau and Anouk Tigu 8-3.

In singles, the Lady Backs took all six matches from the Tide. Alabama’s Bigos won the first set of her match with the 61st ranked Tigu before eventually falling 10-8 in the third set to end the match.

The Tide returns home after a two week hiatus to host Ole Miss and Mississippi State in its conference home opener.
