The Miami Dolphins signed former University of Alabama linebacker Keith Saunders, who had attended last weekend’s rookie mini camp on a tryout basis.
Saunders, who moved from defensive end to the hybrid “Jack” position at Alabama last season, played in 42 games for the Crimson Tide, with 18 starts. He totaled 54 tackles, six for loss and two sacks. Prior to Alabama, he spent one year (2002) at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., and attended Holy Cross High School in Delran, N.J.
The Dolphins also signed cornerback Scorpio Babers of Sam Houston State on Monday, and waived defensive lineman Derreck Robinson, linebacker Abraham Wright, cornerback Aaron Lane and wide receiver Marcel Reece. Both Robinson and Wright were with the club last year, while Lane and Reece were signed as undrafted rookie free agents last Thursday.
