40. Jarvis Carter

5-9, 175, WR

McAdory High School (McCalla)

Considering: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi

State

What we know: Carter is an excellent athlete who plays the wingback

position for McAdory. He accounted for 500 receiving yards and 200 passing

yards with 31 total touchdowns. He was selected as an All-Metro performer

in the Birmingham area.

Bone says: Carter is a player who knows how to find the end zone after

scoring more than 30 touchdowns as a junior. He is electric with the ball

and could become a super slot receiver on the next level. College coaches

are waiting to take a closer look in camps in July and during his senior

season.

6-3, 190, WR

Lincoln High School

Not Ranked

Considering: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State

What we know: Hoyt is the best player on his high school team and has been

utilized as a quarterback. He passed for more than 1,300 yards with 13

touchdowns and rushed for 11 touchdowns in 2007. He was named All-County

for his performance and received all-camp honors at the Under

Armour/Scout.com Southeast Elite camp.

Bone says: Hoyt will move to receiver on the next level. He is very

physical and has great speed. He should see the scholarship offer list grow

as a senior.

6-1, 200, RB

Hillcrest High School (Evergreen)

Not Ranked

Considering: Alabama, Auburn, Southern Miss, Troy

What we know: Smith is a star athlete on both sides of the ball as a

running back and safety. He rushed for 788 yards on 88 attempts as a junior

and added 44 tackles and four interceptions on defense. He is mainly

recruited as an athlete and recently received offer No. 1 from Southern

Miss.

Bone says: Smith really started to shine during summer camps. He was

singled out as one of the best overall athletes at Alabama’s first camp. He

will likely play safety or linebacker on the next level.

5-11, 202, LB

Blount High School (Prichard)

Scout.com 3-star

Considering: Auburn commitment

What we know: He is the younger brother of Auburn starting linebacker

Chris Evans. He made 104 tackles as a junior with 10 forced fumbles, five

sacks and two interceptions. Evans was named All-State honorable mention as

an athlete as a junior in 2007.

Bone says: Evans is an undersized, but terrific, football player. He

doesn’t have great combine speed but displays excellent football speed. He

will likely redshirt for his freshman season.

5-10, 250, FB

Theodore High School

Not Ranked

Considering: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and South

Alabama

What we know: McCreary is a fullback and linebacker prospect who has the

speed of a running back. He recorded more than 800 yards and 11 touchdowns

on offense in 2007. He added 97 tackles on defense.

Bone says: McCreary is a great fullback prospect who started to emerge on

the recruiting radar during the spring. College coaches were impressed when

they stopped by Theodore on spring scouting trips. He could see a big gain

in the rankings with a solid senior season.

6-6, 305, OT

Bob Jones High School (Madison)

Not Ranked

Considering: Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State, South Alabama, UAB

What we know: A big offensive tackle who excels in pass protection. He was

a participant at the Under Armour/Scout.com Southeast Elite camp. Abrams

has received early scholarship offers from UAB and South Alabama.

Bone says: Abrams is trying earn more offers. He is an intelligent player

on and off the field. He needs to improve his run blocking and lower body

flexibility.

5-11, 180, WR

LeFlore High School (Mobile)

Not Ranked

Considering: Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Southern Miss

What we know: McCants is superb athlete who could play receiver, running

back or defensive back on the next level. McCants had 458 yards receiving

with four touchdowns as a junior and rushed for 367 yards. He added another

250 yards on special teams.

Bone says: McCants is fantastic in open space and can make defenders miss.

He is best at taking a short pass and running 80 yards for a touchdown

rather than catching the deep ball. Southern Miss has offered, but he has

the talent to play in the SEC.

6-4, 330, OG

Clay County High School (Ashland)

Considering: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Troy, UAB

What we know: Simmons was once considered a future elite defensive tackle

prospect before adding 50 pounds and growing into an offensive guard. He

was named All-State honorable mention in Class 3A in 2007. Simmons attended

the Under Armour/Scout.com Southeast Elite camp and earned all-camp honors.

Bone says: Simmons dominated as a defensive tackle at the Scout.com

combine in Tuscaloosa two years ago. He has competitive drive and

determination and potential as an SEC-caliber guard.

6-4, 210, LB

Briarwood Christian School (Birmingham)

Not Ranked

Considering: Alabama, Arkansas State, Auburn, Mississippi State, South

Alabama, UAB, Vanderbilt

What we know: May is a defensive end for the Lions but will play

linebacker at the next level. He made 96 tackles and eight sacks for the

Class 5A state runner up in 2007. He also blocked two punts and recovered

another punt for a touchdown.

Bone says: May is undersized at defensive end but should easily make the

transition to linebacker. He is very aggressive, has great speed and is acompetitive athlete. He made play after play in the state championship game. He is awaiting an offer from Mississippi State and will likely commit

to the Bulldogs if given the opportunity.

6-4, 250, DE

Leeds High School

Not Ranked

Considering: Alabama, Arkansas State, Auburn, Marshall, Ole Miss, South

Alabama, Southern Miss

What we know: Carnathan is a monster athlete who plays defensive end,

defensive tackle, fullback and tight end. He tallied 109 tackles, 6 1/2

sacks, four tackles for a loss, four caused fumbles, two fumble recoveries

and blocked three punts in 2007. He added 285 yards rushing on 36 carries

with four touchdowns.

Bone says: Carnathan is great defender who has not yet generated at lot of

interest. Keep a watchful eye on him during the 2008 season. He works hard

on the line and is very tough to block. He mainly plays defensive end but

will grow into a tackle on the next level.

5-10, 185, RB

Florence High School

Not Ranked

Considering: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee

What we know: Southward is an excellent running back who could see time as

a cornerback on the next level. He rushed for 1,736 yards and 28 touchdowns

during his junior campaign. He was named All-Area, All-Region and honorable

mention All-State during the 2007 season.

Bone says: Southward’s biggest asset is speed. He is a home-run hitter

each time he touches the ball. A lot of schools are showing interest. He

has received a few small scholarship offers but is waiting on the SEC or

ACC schools to come calling.
