TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama freshman Ericka Russell has been voted to the SEC All-Freshman Team. The former Northridge player is one of eight freshmen in the conference to be recognized.

'Ericka is really deserving of this honor,' Alabama coach Wendell Hudson said. 'We are excited for her and think this is a big boost for both this team and our program. We have no doubt she is going to help us get Alabama back where we'd like it to be.'

After averaging just eight minutes and scoring zero points in the first two games, Russell broke out of her shell and scored 14 points in 19 minutes in the Crimson Tide's third game of the season at Hampton. Since then, she is averaging 9.9 points per game and has a total of 13 double-figure point outings.

Her season-best came in Alabama's conference opener against Vanderbilt when she scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers. She leads the team in 3-point shots with 52.
