University of Alabama running back Mark Ingram missed Wednesday’s first scrimmage of spring with an apparent injury (undisclosed), which is not believed to be serious. Ingram, wearing black signaling no contact, rode a stationary bike while his teammates warmed up at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Last season, Ingram had 728 rushing yards on 143 carries and a team-high 12 touchdowns as a freshman.
Without Ingram, Roy Upchurch (neck) led the running backs through drills before the scrimmage, but was not expected to participate. Behind him were Jeramie Griffin, Ivan Matchett, Jermaine Preyor, Terry Grant and Demetrius Goode.
Coach Nick Saban is expected to address media after the the scrimmage.
Wide receiver Earl Alexander (shoulder) and Upchurch were also in black. Linebacker Brandon Fanney is still not practicing due to a suspension.
