TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama basketball signee Shawn Kemp Jr. will enroll in Hargrave Military Academy and is expected to re-sign with the Crimson Tide in the April, 2010, signing period, sources said.
Kemp, the 6-foot-9, 235-pound son of NBA all-star Shawn Kemp, did not have an adequate college entrance exam score to qualify for freshman eligibility at Alabama. Roger Kvam, his coach at Cherokee High School in Canton, Ga., has told several sources that Kemp will enroll at the prep school in Chatham, Va.
Kemp signed with former Alabama coach Mark Gottfried, but has expressed to the new UA coaching staff headed by Anthony Grant that he still plans to attend Alabama. He will have four years of eligibility remaining after playing a season at the prep school.
