Holcombe contributes to U.S. softball win

MARACAY, Venezuela | Former University of Alabama catcher Ashley Holcombe went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored a run to help the U.S. national softball team defeat the Dominican Republic 15-0 Tuesday to run its record to 7-0 in the Pan American Games Qualifier tournament.
Holcombe has started four games for the U.S. and is batting .444 with four runs scored and five RBIs. She has hit one home run.
UA head coach Patrick Murphy is an assistant coach on the U.S. team’s staff.
