Court documents indicate that Upshaw and Kendall Lynn Gryzb, were fighting in the parking lot of the UA Student Recreation Center on Campus Drive at 9:22 p.m. because she had seen him talking to another woman.

According to documents filed in court around 10:30 a.m., a UAPD officer was on patrol in the parking lot of the student recreation center. He saw Upshaw chasing Gryzb, who turned around and yelled at him, the officer said.

"At this time, Upshaw grabbed Gryzb by the back of the neck and hair with his right hand, and pushed her downward in what appeared to be an attempt to push her to the ground," Officer Rusty Romine wrote.

She freed herself from his grasp, the officer said, and tried to hit his face. Upshaw grabbed her by the forearm and pushed her away, the officer wrote.

Upshaw told the officer that she had slapped him because he was talking to another woman.

Both Upshaw and Gryzb, both 19, were charged with third-degree domestic violence/harassment. Bail was set at $500.

Both Upshaw and Gryzb were released before noon Thursday.
