Late goal sinks UA soccer at Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. | The Alabama soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss against Ole Miss in its final match of the season Sunday afternoon at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. The Rebels scored with six minutes remaining in regulation to sink the Tide.

Alabama concludes its season 6-11-1 overall and 2-8-1 in Southeastern Conference play. Ole Miss improves to 13-4-2 overall and 7-2-2 in SEC games.

Goalkeeper Justine Bernier came up big for Alabama with a season best 11 saves. The sophomore wrapped up the season by making 10 or more saves on three different occasions and sealed the SEC saves title with a season total of 116 stops.

The Rebels and Crimson Tide played a physical back-and-forth match, but it was the home team that came away with the majority of dangerous scoring opportunities and produced a 20-7 shot advantage and 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

Alabama was led in shots by junior Kelly King with three. Ole Miss was led by Hannah Weatherly and her five shots, putting four on frame.
