TUSCALOOSA | Tuscaloosa heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder is set to get in the ring again.
Wilder is scheduled to fight on Nov. 28 in Cincinnati in his first bout since breaking his right hand on Aug. 14.
His opponent has not been named.
Wilder broke his hand in a first-round knockout of Travis Allen after connecting on a straight right to the top of Allen’s head.
Jay Deas, Wilder’s co-trainer, said the 220-pounder never really stopped training, although he had to stop using his right hand for a while.
“He stayed in the gym, and we used it as an opportunity to work on his left hand, especially the jab and hook,” Deas said. “He was cleared to use his right hand about three weeks ago. I think if we were fighting this weekend he would be ready to throw (his right hand). He’s a competitor. It’s not in his makeup to not do something.”
Wilder is 7-0, all seven of which came via knockout, including six in the first round. His longest fight went two rounds in his professional debut.
