TUSCALOOSA | Sedrick Irvin, an intern who works with the University of Alabama running backs, is expected to become the new running backs coach at the University of Memphis under new coach Larry Porter, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal web site.
Irvin joined Saban's staff at UA last year, and was among those running back Mark Ingram thanked in his acceptance speech after winning the Heisman Trophy.
UA coach Nick Saban signed Irvin from Miami Senior High to attend Michigan State, where he became a 1,000-yard rusher for the Spartans. He spent two seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.
Porter has already hired former UA head coach Mike DuBose as a defensive line coach.
