The calendar appears in the Today Section each Sunday. Box 20587, Tuscaloosa, AL 35402-0587. Information should arrive by Noon on Monday prior to the Sunday requested. Send a description, date and time of the event complete with your name, address and telephone number. Incomplete material may delay printing of the announcement.
Obituaries must be received by 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for publication in the next morning's edition. They may be faxed by the funeral home or delivered by a family member. Photos are accepted.
On weekends, obituaries will be accepted by FAX ONLY from the funeral home no later than 3 p.m. for publication in the next morning’s edition. We do not accept obituaries brought in personally on weekends.
The Tuscaloosa News will publish a death notice at no charge for the first insertion. This notice may be as many lines as needed but may contain only the following information:
Name and age of the deceased, address, date and place of birth, location and time of service, location of burial, funeral directing and visitation - place and times
If the death notice does not run independently and runs as part of the funeral notice/full obituary, any additional information other than the above will be charged as:
- First day fee of $3.45 per line, 2nd day fee of $2.30 per line for all lines.

Church Notes are published Saturdays in the Today section. Send information by e-mail to peggy.skelton@tuscaloosanews.com, bring it to the office at 315 28th Avenue, fax it to 205-722-0118, or mail it to Church Notes, Attn. Peggy Skelton, The Tuscaloosa News, P.O. Box 20587, Tuscaloosa, AL 35402-0587. Information should arrive by noon, Wednesday prior to the Saturday publication. Include the church name, address, date/time, event, speaker, brief biographical information, and contact name and phone number.
Engagement forms should be submitted by Monday noon for publication the following Sunday. Engagement announcements should be turned in at least two weeks but not more than three months prior to the wedding.
Wedding forms should be submitted by Monday noon for publication the following Sunday. Wedding announcements should be turned in within 12 weeks after the wedding. Announcements turned in 13-16 weeks after the ceremony will be published in an abbreviated form in a Thursday edition of the newspaper.
Corrected engagement and wedding announcements will be reprinted in a Thursday edition if the News staff makes a mistake. Full announcements will not be reprinted when forms are turned in with incorrect or incomplete information. Please do not add information not requested on our wedding or engagement form. We cannot guarantee such information will be published.
There is no charge for either the wedding or engagement announcement to be published.
Quality black-and-white or color photographs of any size are accepted. Black-and-white and vertical photos are preferred. We will do our best to return photographs upon request, but because of the great volume of pictures we handle daily, we cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged photos. If a self-addressed, stamped envelope is submitted with the announcement, we will make every effort to return the photograph. Otherwise, published photos may be picked up at our office between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Please call Peggy Skelton, 205-722-0199, before coming so photo will be ready to be picked up.
Visit the reception area at the office at 315 28th Avenue to get the appropriate forms or send a self-addressed stamped envelope for forms to be mailed to you.

Birth announcements (no photos); birthday pictures for adults 100 and older; anniversaries for couples celebrating 50 or more years and five generations are all free. These announcements and pictures are published in the Today section of the Sunday edition. They should be brought to The Tuscaloosa News by Monday noon prior to the Sunday publication date.
Birth announcements should be submitted within two months after the baby's birth. The information should include the name of the baby, sex, date/place of birth, parents/hometown, grandparents/hometowns, surviving great-grandparents/hometowns, and siblings-sex/name/age. No photos will be published.
Anniversaries should include the name of the couple celebrating the anniversary, the type of celebration, the location and date, the names of couple's children, the number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the actual wedding date and place-if not the same as the date of the reception. The announcement should be submitted within two months of the anniversary date. Photos of the couple can be published.
Five Generations photographs should include identification (name/relation) left to right.

The Club News column runs in the Today section of Sunday as space allows. Typed or printed information will be accepted for publication in The Tuscaloosa News. All information is subject to editing due to space limitations.
If someone you know has won an award, been elected an officer in a club or organization, or otherwise been honored, please submit the information in writing for our Applause column which runs in the West Alabama section of the Sunday edition.

Reprints for personal use are 8x10 color photos, and cost $25, which must be prepaid. Please call about pricing for reprints that will be used for republication. Photos that do not appear in the paper or on the Internet site are not available for viewing or purchase.
