MIAMI, Fla. – A pair of University of Alabama freshmen posted top-10 finishes on the final day of the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships on Sunday in the Miami Marine Stadium in Miami, Fla.

Kensey McMahon posted a time of 1:00.17.35 to take eighth place in the women’s 5,000-meter race, while Nico Hernandez-Tome was ninth in the men’s 5,000 meters with a time of 55:22.70.

Sunday marked McMahon’s second top-10 finish of the weekend, after also earning eighth-place in Friday’s 10,000-meter race.

In all, four members of the Crimson Tide posted top-25 finishes in the 5Ks. Alexis Preski was 13th with a time of 1:02.11.09, while Cameron Brown was 22nd, after posting a 1:03.14.57 in the women’s 5K.

Nicholas Perera and Ryan Ratliff also swam the men’s 5K on Sunday. Perera took 31st, with a time of 58:30.68, while Ratliff was 44th at 1:01.08.11.
