Four-star cornerback Saivion Smith committed to Alabama on Wednesday. The former LSU player announced his decision on Twitter.

Smith is the No. 4 JUCO player in the 2018 class, No. 1 corner and the No. 3 player from Florida.

He’ll have a strong opportunity to come in and play immediately as a junior college transfer. Alabama’s secondary will lose both two senior starters at corner as well as safety Hootie Jones. Both Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison are candidates to leave early for the NFL draft as well, meaning Alabama could be rebuilding its entire secondary.

The 6-1/175-pound corner took his official visit when Alabama defeated LSU on Nov. 4. He was at LSU for just one semester before transferring to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

He is the second recruit to announce his commitment on Wednesday, and its third in the last two days. Tight end Michael Parker committed earlier on Tuesday and defensive back Nadab Joseph jumped on board on Monday night. Those commitments bumped Alabama up to No. 10 in 247Sports 2018 team rankings.

Alabama now has three corners in its 2018 class. Smith joins Jalyn Armour-Davis and Joseph in the secondary. The three four-stars are adding much needed depth to the Crimson Tide secondary, with Hootie Jones, Anthony Averett, Levi Wallace and possibly Ronnie Harrison and Minkah Fitzpatrick leaving.

Alabama now has 10 four-star commits in its 2018 class.
