SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The No. 23-ranked University of Alabama men’s tennis team defeated the San Diego State Aztecs, 5-2, on Friday night at the Aztec Tennis Center. Alabama (7-1) remains in California where it will play at Pepperdine on Sunday.

Alabama’s wins were, in singles, by Edson Ortiz, Zhe Zhou, No. 40-ranked Mazen Osama and Thibault Cancel. In doubles, Alexey Nesterov and Cancel combined for a win as did Ortiz and Zhou.

UA women’s tennis

Alabama swept its doubleheader against Georgia State, 4-3 and UT Martin, 6-0, on Friday inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Indoor Tennis Facility.

The Crimson Tide (6-0) got singles wins against Georgia State from Moka Ito, Ann Selim and Alba Cortina Pou.

Against UT Martin, Alabama got wins from Selim, Pou, Andie Daniell, Kimberley and Luca.

Alabama hosts Kennesaw State and Lipscomb on Sunday at 10 a.m.
