The University of Alabama’s 2022 football schedule is complete.
Austin Peay released Thursday afternoon that it has schedule a game with Alabama for UA’s fourth and final non-conference game of 2022. It joins a non-conference slate with a game at Texas and home games against Utah State and ULM.
“This trip to Tuscaloosa and Bryant-Denny Stadium will provide our student athletes another great opportunity to display their talents and the Austin Peay spirit on the national stage,” Austin Peay Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison said in the release. “Obviously games such as this are necessary to assist our department as we work hard to provide a premium student athlete experience for all of our sports.
“Scheduling these games takes much coordination and we would like to thank all those involved for assisting us as we took the necessary steps to make this opportunity possible.
UA has never played Austin Peay in football.
The move now gives UA complete schedules for its 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons, and needing just one more game to complete its 2023 and 2024 schedules.
Austin Peay, an Ohio Valley Conference member, had a 8-71 record since 2010 before Will Healy went 8-4, 7-1 OVC, in 2017. Healy accepted the Charlotte job after the 2018 season and was replaced by Mark Hudspeth, the former North Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette coach who did two stints as an assistant at Mississippi State, spanning a total of three seasons.
