After winning its two-opening exhibition games, Alabama women’s basketball will be in action for its first regular-season game Wednesday, as it hosts Southeastern Louisiana.

“They return four out of five starters,” Alabama coach Kristy Curry said. “Their staff, I have a lot of respect for how well they’ve done in recruiting… They’ve done a really good job improving that program.”

The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series, posting an 8-2 record in the 10 previous matchups, including an eight-game winning streak for Alabama. It won the last five by double-digits, including a 97-62 win in the last series meeting.

In its two exhibition games, Alabama defeated Faulkner and Mississippi college by a combined 85 points.

Juniors Ashley Knight and Jordan Lewis start this season near the top of the school record books. Knight sits just 39 blocks away from the all-time record in blocks, while Lewis is seventh all-time with her 3.9 assists per game.

In her five seasons at Alabama, Curry is 4-1 to start the season, including winning the last four games.

In her first season as head coach, Ayla Guzzardo led the Lady Lions to an 8-21 overall record and 7-11 in the Southland conference last season. The Lions returned their leading rebounder from last season in Caitlyn Williams, who averaged 6.9 boards a game. Forward Jyar Francis returns as the leading scorer. In her junior season, Francis average 10.4 points a game.
