LAKE ELMO, Minn. – The 24th-ranked Alabama women’s golf team closed play in its season-opening event, the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, finishing in eighth place with a 54-hole team total of 881 (295-294-292). The tournament, which featured 11 of the nation’s top-25 teams and some of the best competition in collegiate golf, concluded on Wednesday at the Royal Golf Club.

As a team, Alabama entered the day in 10th and was able to move up the leaderboard and fall into eighth overall, passing defending NCAA Champion Duke (883) and No. 6 UCLA (891). The 2019 NCAA runner-up Wake Forest (847) claimed a 14-stroke victory over Arkansas (861) to win the 2019 ANNIKA Intercollegiate title.

Senior Kenzie Wright recorded her third consecutive round of par or better on the season, posting a top-10 finish, tying for eighth with a 2-under par 214 (71-71-72). The senior totaled a team-leading 13 birdies and led the tournament field on par 3 averages (2.92) on the week.

Angelica Moresco fired a 1-under par 71 in Wednesday’s third round, to finish into a share of 26th place with a 4-over par 220 (75-74-71) total.
