Burton Burns has been with the University of Alabama football program as long as head coach Nick Saban has. The Burns tenure at UA is now over.

The long-time UA running backs coach — more recently in the role of Assistant Athletic Director, Football — will be the running backs coach for the New York Giants. UA originally filled his running backs coach role with Joe Pannunzio before handing it over to Charles Huff, who coached UA running backs in 2019.

Burns was responsible for running backs in an era that was among UA’s best, coaching recent greats such as Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy, Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake and others.
