Tevin Mack, one of the top transfer candidates in college basketball, committed to Alabama on Wednesday night, confirming the commitment with a “Roll Tide!” Tweet on his Twitter account.
Mack arrived in Tuscaloosa for an official visit on Tuesday morning. He and has mother spent the day with the Alabama staff.

Mack played high school basketball in Columbia, S.C., averaging 29 points a game as a senior. A four-star prospect, he originally signed with Virginia Commonwealth but was granted a release from VCU and followed coach Shaka Smart after he took the Longhorn job in 2015. Mack was a reserve in his freshman year at UT. He blossomed as a sophomore, averaging 31.3 minutes and 14.8 points per game before being suspended by Smart in January. Mack requested a transfer and was released by Texas in March.
Under NCAA rules, Mack would have to sit out this season and would have two years of eligibility beginning with the 2018-19 season.
Alabama currently has one available scholarship after ArMond Davis‘ decision to return for the 2018-19 season. UA could have a second scholarship depending on Braxton Key, who must decide whether to return to school or remain in the NBA Draft by May 24.
