University of Alabama men’s basketball coach Avery Johnson has shown no fear of a rigorous non-conference schedule and may be about to finalize the biggest challenge yet for the upcoming season.

The Crimson Tide is close to finalizing a series with the Arizona Wildcats, a Sweet 16 participant last season and a preseason choice as the No. 1 team in 2017-18 by CBS Sports. Alabama would travel to Tucson this season, with the Wildcats coming to Alabama in 2018-19.
Alabama’s recently-hired director of athletics, Greg Byrne, came to the Crimson Tide program from Arizona.
The Crimson Tide has also been projected as a preseason Top 25 team for the coming season and has already announced non-conference games with Memphis, Minnesota, Brigham Young, Texas and Central Florida. UA will also host Oklahoma as part of the SEC/Big XII challenge in January.
