The University of Alabama announced on Thursday that the men’s basketball team would open its schedule with an October 30 exhibition game against the Montevallo Falcons at Coleman Coliseum.

The contest will mark the Falcons’ fourth meeting with the Crimson Tide in an exhibition game, and the 11th contest against a team from the Southeastern Conference in program history.

Montevallo is seeking its first win against an SEC opponent, with a nine-point margin in a 81-72 setback against Alabama in November 2006 marking the smallest margin of defeat. The Falcons fell to the Crimson Tide 81-67 in the most recent meeting between the two teams in November 2014.

The Falcons have advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament 11 times in 15 seasons under the guidance of head coach Danny Young, who has led Montevallo to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on three separate occasions.

Also on Thursday, the Southeastern Conference announced tip-off Times for the 2019 SEC/Big 12 Challenge, which will played in January.

Alabama will face Baylor on Saturday, January 26 at 11 a.m. CT in Waco, Texas as part of the challenge. The Crimson Tide defeated Oklahoma in the 2018 SEC/Big 12 Challenge
