COLUMBIA, Mo. — Alabama dropped its final game of the regular season against Missouri, 82-47, on Sunday inside Mizzou Arena. With the loss the Crimson Tide (13-16, 5-11 SEC) will be the No. 11 seed in the Southeastern Conference Tournament and will take on the No. 14 seed in Vanderbilt at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Greenville, S.C.
“Cierra (Johnson) came to play, but she didn’t have much help around her,” head coach Kristy Curry said. “All day we were coaching effort at the four other spots, and we were disappointed because that’s hard to coach.”
Johnson was a bright spot for the Tide after she finished with 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor. Ariyah Copeland put in eight points to go along with 10 rebounds in the loss.
It was the Tigers’ (21-9, 10-6 SEC) senior day and Sophie Cunningham led the team with 22 points eight rebounds and five assists. Mizzou knocked down 15 three-pointers and shot 53.8 percent for the game in the win.
The Tigers started the game with a 21-5 lead after the first quarter of action and took a 36-21 advantage into the halftime break. Missouri continued to control the game in the second half and ended the day with a 82-47 victory.
