Watford will be deciding between Alabama, Memphis, LSU and Indiana. The 247Sports crystal ball predicts Watford will choose LSU.
He’s the No. 1 recruit in the state of Alabama in the class of 2019 and the No. 17 overall prospect in the nation in the class, according to the 247Sports composite. He averaged 23.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots per game as a senior.
Watford is one of the last remaining five-star players to announce his decision in the class. He previously intended to announce his decision on April 20 at the Jordan Brand Classic before pushing the date back.
Watford was a priority for former Alabama coach Avery Johnson and his staff, and new coach Nate Oats has continued to recruit the 6-foot-9 forward. Oats even traveled to Destin to visit the Watford family on vacation shortly after he was hired.
Alabama’s 2019 recruiting class already includes four players and a graduate transfer. Point guard Beetle Bolden will arrive with one year of eligibility from West Virginia. Forward Raymond Hawkins, guard Jalen Shackleford of Hesperia, Cal., guard Jaylen Forbes of Florence, Miss. and forward Rashaun Gary of Columbia, S.C. have all signed.
