University of Alabama freshman guard Jaylen Forbes has entered the NCAA transfer portal, the second Crimson Tide player to do so since the abrupt end of the season in March.
Forbes, a 6-foot-4 freshman from Florence, Miss., appeared in 30 games for Alabama last season, starting one. He averaged 2.7 points per game. His best outing was an 11-point performance in Alabama’s 95-91 overtime loss at Auburn.
The Crimson Tide announced four signees on Wednesday, the opening day of the 2020-21 spring signing period and had one early-period signee. UA has one senior, guard Beetle Bolden, and has three players — John Petty, Herb Jones and Kira Lewis Jr. — that are currently exploring their NBA draft status. Forbes is the second player to enter the transfer portal, joining freshman center Raymond Hawkins.
Alabama coach Nate Oats was unavailable for comment on Wednesday night but is expected to address the media on Thursday.
