BATON ROUGE, La. — Alabama women’s basketball was edged by No. 24 LSU, 79-78, in overtime at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Sunday in the final game of the 2017-18 regular season. The Crimson Tide (17-12, 7-9 SEC) trailed by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter and outscored the Lady Tigers (19-8, 11-5 SEC), 14-6, over the final four minutes of regulation to force the overtime period.
Senior Ashley Williams finished with her third double-double in the last four games with 15 points and a career-best 16 rebounds, while Cook chipped in a team-high 18 points. Junior Shaquera Wade also scored in double figures with 13 points. LSU was led by junior Chloe Jackson, who had 31 points and eight rebounds.
The Tide outrebounded the Tigers, 50-40, scoring 20 second-chance points in the contest off of its 21 offensive boards.
Next up, Alabama heads to Nashville for the 2018 Southeastern Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament, which begins Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Bridgestone Arena. The Tide enters the tournament as the No. 8 seed and will take on ninth-seeded Kentucky on Thursday, March 1 at noon CT.
