WINTER PARK, Fla. — Junior Cierra Johnson’s career-high 27 points were not enough as the University of Alabama women’s basketball team fell to No. 24 Miami, 101-74, on Friday night at the Florida Sunshine Classic at Rollins College’s Warden Arena in Winter Park, Fla. The Crimson Tide finishes its non-conference play with an 8-5 record, while the Canes move to 11-2.

Alabama is now off from play until January 3 when it hosts Florida for its Southeastern Conference season opener.

Against Miami, Johnson shot 9-of-16 from the floor to go along with six rebounds and three assists. Jasmine Walker scored 14 points, and Jordan Lewis had in 13 points and five assists.

Miami led the entire game and shot 58 percent (39-of-67) from the floor, including 73 percent (16-of-22) from 3-point range. Alabama made 27-of-67 (40 percent) from the field, while knocking down nine three-pointers in the loss.
