The team worked outside on a beautiful day in Tuscaloosa. The temperature was 77 and very little humidity. Here is what I saw during the media viewing period.
Outside linebackers
The big news of the practice was that Da’Shawn Hand was practicing with the outside backers. Hand, the former No. 1 overall player in his recruiting class, has been a defensive end his entire career. The order through drills featured Jamey Mosley, Mekhi Brown, Hand, Ben Davis (running scout team), Dylan Moses, LaBryan Ray and Chris Allen.
Defensive line
The defensive line worked in groups of four during drills. In the first group featured Raekwon Davis, Josh Frazier, Da’Ron Payne and Isaiah Buggs.
Offensive line
After suffering a minor ankle injury during Tuesday’s practice, offensive tackle Jedrick Wills moved fine during work Wednesday.
Running backs
Josh Jacobs practiced again. Nick Saban said the sophomore running back is making progress but he wouldn’t commit to him playing Saturday.
Misc.
Rashaan Evans rode the bike again. Hootie Jones practice with a protective shoulder device and Shaun Dion Hamilton wore a sleeve on his left arm.
