Senior punter JK Scott was chosen as one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award, it was announced on Wednesday.
CLASS is an acronym for “Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.” It encourages student-athletes to make an impact as leaders in their community. The award is given to an FBS senior with notable achievements in the community, in the classroom, in competition and through demonstration of character.
Scott has a 3.12 GPA and is on pace to graduate this December after just three-and-a-half years at Alabama. He has received academic honors from the SEC all three years he has been at UA. He’s also one of the nation’s top punters and has volunteered extensively with several organizations while at Alabama.
Fans can vote on the award at www.seniorclassaward.com. The winner will be chosen through a combination of fan vote, media vote, and Division I head coaches. The award will be presented during the bowl season in January.
Alabama has not had a player win the award since it was first given to football players in 2008.
