Alabama is back on top in the only poll that matters as the College Football Playoff Committee’s revealed UA as the No. 1 team Tuesday night, the third week of the rankings.

The Crimson Tide had been the No. 2 team behind Georgia in the first two weeks of the rankings. Georgia lost at Auburn 40-17 last weekend.

Alabama has spent the entire season at No. 1 in the AP Poll, but the CFP poll is the only one that counts, and even it won’t mean anything until the final rankings are revealed after conference championship games in a few weeks.

ESPN college football analyst Booger McFarland again expressed question marks about Alabama.

“Nick Saban wants to win with defense, and that defense is vulnerable,” McFarland said.

Joey Galloway, his colleague, said Jalen Hurts gives the team something to “hang its hat on.”

“Jalen Hurts at end of game passing them to victory…that’s a huge feather in his cap.”
