FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | Alabama missed an extra point in the first half, the first by Joseph Bulovas but the fourth for the Crimson Tide as a team all season. The errant kicked bounced off the upright. The last time UA missed four extra points in a season was 2009, when UA made 43 of 47 attempts.
Bulovas made 8 of 9 point-after kicks and added a 27-yard field goal.
The Crimson Tide’s kickoffs were all fair caught or went for touchbacks, keeping the Arkansas return game from playing any part in the game.
Alabama did have to enlist a holder on a kickoff to start the second half, when the ball blew off the tee for the second time of the day. Shyheim Carter was enlisted the first time. Nigel Knott was used on the next kickoff.
Alabama gave up a 78-yard kickoff return that set up Arkansas’ final touchdown. Coach Nick Saban noted that the kick coverage team on that return was made up of backups.
