Tight end Hale Hentges has been named a 2018 Senior CLASS Award finalist, the selection committee announced Wednesday. He is one of 10 finalists chosen out of a crop of 30. He’s the only tight end.

The award honors an FBS senior who excels in the community, classroom, character and competition.

“I’m just extremely happy about some of that little small recognition that you get for off-the-field stuff,” Hentges said. “Obviously just blessed to be part of a great group of guys. I’d love to take it home, but if I don’t, that’s totally OK because I’m in very good company with some of those other guys on that are on that list.”

Fan votes and votes from Division I head coaches will determine the winner in early January. Alabama has never had a football player win the award since it was first presented in 2008.
