Four Crimson Tide members have been named to the SEC All-Freshman team, the league announced Thursday. Those players are wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, linebacker Eyabi Anoma, defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis and defensive back Patrick Surtain II.

All 14 SEC head coaches voted on the team, and they were not allowed to pick their own players.

Waddle, who was also chosen as SEC Freshman of the Year earlier this week, leads the conference’s first-years in scoring (48 points on eight touchdowns), receptions per game (3.2) and receiving yards per game (61.8). Anoma has made nine tackles, six unassisted stops, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry. Mathis has recorded 16 tackles and a fumble recovery. Surtain, a starter in Alabama’s secondary the last 10 games, is responsible for 33 tackles, six pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for loss, a quarterback hurry, a fumble recovery and an interception.
