Although Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa didn’t win the Heisman Trophy last Saturday night, the Crimson Tide won several recruiting battles over the weekend, flipping the commitments of two top-ranked recruits.

  • Dax Hill, the No. 1 safety in the 2019 class, announced he’s flipping his commitment from Michigan to Alabama. The 5-star prospect from Tulsa, Oklahoma, had been committed to the Wolverines since September. The 6-foot, 186-pound prospect is No. 1 in Oklahoma and the No. 7 player overall.

  • Less than two hours after Hill’s change, 4-star 2019 cornerback Jeffery Carter tweeted he would be de-committing from Texas A&M and pledging to Alabama. The 6-foot, 186-pound prospect is the No. 11 cornerback and No. 91 recruit overall. Carter, who had been committed to the Aggies since July, is the second Texas A&M commit Alabama has flipped in the past two weeks. The Crimson Tide landed a commitment from 4-star inside linebacker Christian Harris on Nov. 28.

With the addition of Hill and Carter, Alabama has five defensive backs and 24 prospects committed in its 2019 class.

The Crimson Tide was busy on the recruiting trail overall last week. Nick Saban and his assistant coaches fanned out across the country to visit recruits. Here is what several prospects posted on Twitter about their visits:

Saban traveled to Oxford, Mississippi, to check in on 4-star 2019 defensive back Brandon Turnage.

Offensive line coach Brent Key visited 4-star 2019 offensive lineman Amari Kight.

Saban visited 4-star 2019 tight end Jahleel Billingsley.
