Alabama football’s Miller Forristall has been named to the 2019 John Mackey watch list announced Friday by the Friends of John Mackey.

The Cartersville, Georgia, native is among 60 candidates from around the country named to the preseason list. The Mackey Award has been presented annually since 2000 by the Friends of John Mackey to recognize the top tight end in college football.

Forristall enters his fourth season with the Crimson Tide poised to take over the starting tight end spot left open by the departures of Hale Hentges and Irv Smith Jr. The redshirt junior has played in 33 career games with two starts, including all 15 contests in 2018. He has totaled six catches for 85 yards coming into the new year and is set to provide Alabama with a big-bodied pass catcher at the tight end spot.
