Alabama starts the 2019 football season at No. 2 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll, which was released Thursday.
Clemson, which beat Alabama in last season’s College Football Playoff national title game, is ranked No. 1.
The Crimson Tide received six first-place votes to Clemson’s 59. Alabama had been the Amway preseason No. 1 for three straight years.
Georgia checked in at No. 3 with Oklahoma at No. 4 and Ohio State fifth. Seven total Southeastern Conference teams were ranked, including four in the top 10.
