The University of Alabama will be hosting the 2019 college football season’s most impactful regular season game to date on Nov. 9, and ESPN will treat it accordingly.
College Gameday will be in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama-LSU game on Saturday, the network announced. It will be the ninth time since 2015 that Gameday featured a UA regular season game and the third time in the last four years that Gameday has picked the Alabama-LSU game.
It will be Gameday’s first appearance in Tuscaloosa since 2016, when on Oct. 22, UA beat No. 6 Texas A&M 33-14. UA has since been the Gameday game nine times, but always either on the road or in the postseason.
At the time of the announcement, it was billed as a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup, with LSU No. 1 and Alabama No. 2 in the AP Poll. The AP Poll will release updated rankings after this weekend’s games, but LSU and Alabama are not expected to be impacted since neither played. The College Football Playoff Committee will release its first set of rankings on Tuesday, so the rankings of substance will be released before Gameday’s appearance in Tuscaloosa.
In UA’s winning streak over LSU that started with the 2011 national championship game, Gameday has featured five Alabama-LSU games: three in Baton Rouge, one in Tuscaloosa and the national championship game in New Orleans.
