Alabama freshman defensive back Scooby Carter announced his intent to enter the transfer portal. He made the announcement on his Twitter account Monday night.

AL.com reported Carter was the player suspended from the Mississippi State game for not attending class. UA coach Nick Saban said a player would be suspended for the game on his Thursday evening radio show.

The freshman cornerback from Mansfield, Texas, had appeared in three games this season and was on track to make use of the four-game redshirt rule.

Carter was four-star prospect out of Mansfield Legacy High School, rated as the ninth-best cornerback in the nation and the 15th-best prospect from Texas regardless of position, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He has one tackle this season.

UA also lost Antonio Alfano to the transfer portal earlier this season; Alfano has already landed at Colorado under former UA and Georgia assistant and current Colorado head coach Mel Tucker.
