Former Alabama defensive back Scooby Carter was arrested in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday on third-degree domestic abuse charges against his girlfriend, Terren Merritt, who was also arrested. Both had bonds listed at $500.
Carter was a freshman defensive back on UA’s 2019 team, playing sparingly and entering the transfer portal late in the season. He chose to remove his name from the transfer portal, just to reenter it again more recently.
Carter came to UA as a four-star prospect from Mansfield, Texas. He was not on UA’s football roster as of earlier this week when it was updated for spring practice, which is scheduled to start on Friday but may be impacted by COVID-19 protections as were all other on-campus sports.
