The Tagovailoa family will be spread across the East coast when football resumes.
Older brother Tua Tagovailoa finished his University of Alabama career in the NFL Draft, being selected by the Miami Dolphins. Younger brother Taulia Tagovailoa ended his UA career in the transfer portal and has selected Maryland, he announced on Twitter Friday evening.
Taulia Tagovailoa will be reunited with former UA offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, who coached Tua Tagovailoa to a successful season before becoming the head coach at Maryland.
Taulia Tagovailoa played in five games as the No. 3 quarterback in 2019 behind Mac Jones. He threw for exactly 100 yards and a touchdown, completing nine of 12 passes (.750) and a true freshman.
Barring a change in transfer eligibilty rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic, or a successful appeal, Taulia will have to sit out the 2020 season but have three years of eligibility after that.
